In partnership with H&M
Fahion loves a full-circle moment – and this just might be its most nostalgic yet. Nearly twenty years after their first game-changing collaboration, H&M and Stella McCartney are getting the band back together for a second round capsule collection. And this time, it’s more like a reimagined greatest-hits album.
Launching in May, the new collection taps into 25 years of McCartney’s design legacy, weaving together past signature silhouettes with present-day polish. Think: oversized shirting, razor-sharp tailoring and sweeping trenches – the kinds of pieces that have become shorthand for modern McCartney-isms – alongside a playful return of archival favourites.
“I see this collection as a journey through my fashion history,” McCartney explained. “It is a true mix of current classics and some of my old favourites… It’s playful, strong, sparkling, joyful, refined.”
Sustainability, as ever, is woven into the DNA of McCartney’s pieces. Organic cottons, RWS-certified wool and innovative plant-based materials sit at the collection’s core, reinforcing McCartney’s long-standing commitment to conscious design without compromising on desirability.
The campaign, shot in London by Sam Rock and starring Reneé Rapp, Australian model Angelina Kendall and Adwoa Aboah, captures that duality perfectly. As Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Advisor and Head of Design puts it: “Stella has always had a bold vision for fashion… Every single piece in the collection is desirable and tells a unique and bold story.”
What’s in the collection?
A thoughtful mix of ready-to-wear and accessories: tailored separates, statement dresses, denim, slogan tees, party-wear and six handbag styles, alongside jewellery and footwear featuring signature chain detailing.
There are rib-knit dresses trimmed with the instantly recognisable Falabella chain, a sculptural white gown that moves in a dramatic circle of fabric, and party-ready pieces that shimmer in the most subtle of ways.
Mesh layers are imagined in a bold cherry print and the iconic studded ‘Rock Royalty’ tee – infamously worn by McCartney and fellow rockstar offspring Liv Tyler at the 1999 Met Gala red carpet – inject just the right amount of nostalgia (and just in time for this year’s Met Gala carpet too).
For accessories, there’s a tightly edited lineup of six bag styles, ranging from compact shoulder silhouettes to oversized totes, anchoring the collection. Naturally, many feature the signature chain detail that has become synonymous with McCartney’s aesthetic. Jewellery and loafers follow suit, crafted using recycled metals in mixed tones.
