Haitian footballer Wilde-Donald Guerrier has officially announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a remarkable 17-year career that took him from the fields of Haiti to some of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
The 37-year-old, known to fans around the world as “D. Guerrier,” shared the news in an emotional message on social media, describing the decision as one of the most difficult of his life. He expressed gratitude to teammates, coaches, clubs, supporters, friends, and family members who stood by him throughout his journey in the sport.
Guerrier’s story began in Haiti, where he developed his talents with Violette AC before continuing his career with América des Cayes. His breakthrough came in 2013 when the late Polish coach Franciszek “Franek” Smuda recognized his potential and brought him to Polish club Wisła Kraków. The move would change the trajectory of his career and open the door to European football.
Over the next decade, Guerrier established himself as one of Haiti’s most successful football exports. The versatile left-sided player competed in Poland, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Lithuania, and Germany, building a reputation for his speed, work ethic, and ability to contribute on both ends of the field.
One of the most successful periods of his career came with Azerbaijani powerhouse Qarabağ FK, where he won league titles and helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League group stage, one of the highest levels of club football in the world.
His final professional club was Hutnik Kraków in Poland, where he concluded a career that spanned nearly two decades and multiple countries.
On the international stage, Guerrier proudly represented Haiti on 61 occasions and scored 11 goals for Les Grenadiers.
