With the Cleveland Browns going through training camp ahead of the 2026 season, the team is looking to lock down any of its stars after trading Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. As the Browns awarded safety Grant Delpit a contract extension, he would break his silence about the occasion.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Delpit would go into his gratitude for Cleveland in sharing their belief in him to keep up his productivity. Though the contract is a sign of how the Browns feel about him, he still feels he has not “done enough” to fully achieve what he wants to do in the NFL.
“I appreciate the belief that the organization, the fans, everybody has in me,” Delpit said, according to Zac Jackson. “And I still feel like it’s so much more to give to the organization, to the city. I haven’t done enough, we haven’t won enough, so just like super blessed and excited to be able to continue striving for that greatness and get some wins for the city of Cleveland, man. So, it’s time. I’ve been waiting. They’ve been waiting for a long time. It’s time to deliver.”
Delpit and Cleveland agreed to a three-year contract extension, which runs $16 million per year, including $35 million guaranteed.

David Mulugheta of Athletes First and the Browns finished off the agreement today. This will be Delpit’s third NFL contract, and it ties him to Cleveland through the 2029 season,” Schefter wrote on Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.
At any rate, Deplit looks to excel in his sixth season in the NFL and with the Browns in the fall, as last season, he recorded 89 total tackles, 48 of them solo tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception, and four pass deflections.
