Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao on Thursday directed officials to speed up all ongoing works under the Suraksha 75 Junctions initiative and finish the project at the earliest.
According to data presented at the meeting, work is in progress at eight of the 10 identified junctions in the South City Corporation. In the Central City Corporation area, work is under way at four of 18 junctions, and work orders have been issued for 14 locations. North City Corporation reported work in progress at six of its 11 junctions, with work orders in place for the rest. In the West City Corporation limits, development has started at five of 15 junctions, and orders have been issued for ten more. The East City Corporation said work is progressing at four of nine junctions.
Major junctions under development include Hudson Circle, Dairy Circle, Gubbi Thotadappa Circle, Golf Club Junction, K.H. Circle, Rajiv Gandhi Circle, Brigade Circle, Ashoka Pillar Circle, Guttahalli Circle, Town Hall, Mayo Hall, Nehru Circle and Upparpet Circle.
During the meeting, Mr. Rao also reviewed the condition of skywalk infrastructure across Bengaluru. He ordered officials to prepare a complete inventory of all skywalks under the GBA, detailing how many are equipped with lifts, the number of functional lifts, and those that are currently non-functional. All non-working lifts must be repaired immediately, he said.
On street-lighting, the Chief Commissioner noted that tenders have already been issued for the installation of LED streetlights across GBA limits under four separate packages.
