Galaxy Warriors’ under-11s have come home from Uzbekistan with another trophy.
The Dubai side beat a team from Kazakhstan 5-3 in the final on Saturday, November 1, to win an international youth tournament in Tashkent. The event ran over three days from October 30.
It is the second title for the same group of players in a little over two weeks. On October 17, the Galaxy U11s won the Istanbul Cup in Turkey.
Their run in Tashkent included a 2-1 win over a team from Uzbekistan. The academy said every game was tight, and the final was the hardest of them all. The Kazakh side was the strongest team they faced, and Galaxy still scored five against them.
For a club based in a desert city, two titles on the road in the space of a fortnight is a solid return. Galaxy Hockey Academy opened in 2022 and trains out of Sport Society Mall in Mirdif. It now has more than 300 children on its books, in age groups running from U6 to U17.
The team’s travel was backed by AMYLCO, the academy’s general partner, with AGB Energy the title partner for the U11 side in Tashkent.
