From Selling Rs 20 CDs to Dhurandhar Success

From selling her CDs for Rs 20 to delivering a record-breaking album in Dhurandhar, Jasmine Sandlas’s journey is a reminder that true talent knows no bounds.

Born in Jalandhar, she grew up writing poems, encouraged by a mother who told her to never hold her voice back. But at 13, everything changed. She moved to California. With no friends and no sense of identity, Jasmine turned to music.

She began writing and recording her own songs, drawing from her Punjabi roots and blending them with West Coast hip-hop. That’s where she found her true calling.

With just $20 in her pocket and no backup plan, Jasmine refused to stop. She stood outside clubs for hours, handing out her CDs, hoping someone would listen.

In 2008, a producer finally gave her a chance. Her first song, Muskan, became a hit in Punjab. And Jasmine didn’t look back.

Yaar Na Miley. Illegal Weapon. Gulabi. One hit after another followed.

Over time, the industry wanted her to sound a certain way. But Jasmine chose to rebel — quietly, through her music.

And then came Dhurandhar.

At 4 AM, completely drained and with barely any time left, she recorded Jaiye Sajana. It was unfiltered and unapologetic.

The internet did the rest.

Clips went viral. Lyrics became captions. Her voice became a mood.

And just like that, Jasmine wasn’t just an artist anymore. She became a voice. A force. The queen of her own sound.

No label could box her in. No rule could define her.

Because she didn’t follow the industry. She rewrote it.
