For a New England snowbird, there’s a destination that has the pull of home: Fort Myers, Fla., the spring traing residence of the Boston Red Sox. Along with JetBlue Park at Fenway South, this sprawling southwestern stretch of Florida is located on a Gulf of Mexico inlet and has beaches, rivers, and canals.
This ranch-style home with low maintenance stucco exterior painted “lunar surface” grey” sits on one of the canals. Palm trees stand at each corner of the home, while small multicolored bushes occupy the space between. (Not a hydrangea in sight.)

The wide driveway ends at an attached two-car garage, and the white front door is located in a covered 47-square-foot alcove situated beyond a palm tree and the garage.
The 350-square-foot living room is awash in natural light with walls painted “shimmer gray” that sometimes looks like a pale tropical blue. The ceiling is a pristine white, and the flooring is porcelain tile, which is used throughout the home.
The source of the sunlight emerges a few steps deeper as the open floor space travels beneath a large eight-bladed ceiling fan into what is now the 250-square-foot family room. The exterior wall is composed of glass sliders, creating the entry point into this home’s 2,533-square-foot lanai. The first portion is a screened-in porch with views of the canal. The second is a heated inground pool wholly encapsulated by an insect-blocking screen.

The home has been fully rejuvenated by its current owners since Hurricane Ian flooded it in 2022. Updates since 2022 include a new roof, new gutters, a well-fed irrigation system, and updated pool equipment. The home has central air conditioning.
Kathy Stobb, the broker/owner and listing agent, offered advice for first-time Florida snowbirds: For homes in flood zones, invest in flood barriers, save money by transferring the FEMA flood insurance from the seller, and check with an agent for discounts before buying homeowners insurance.
Returning to the family room, a 100-square-foot breakfast nook and a galley-style kitchen appear on the left. The 120-square-foot kitchen has white cabinets on both sides interrupted by an electric range underneath a microwave and the refrigerator on the left. The counter with the sink gives way to two layers of white cabinets with a dishwasher on the lower level. The appliances are stainless steel. The backsplash is glass tile.

A 121-square-foot laundry room, with a stacked full-sized washer and dryer, follows, along with an 17-square-foot utility room.
The primary bedroom is across from the family room, occupying the far left corner of the home. It’s 174-square-feet with two large windows that overlook the pool and the 105 feet of waterfront included in the .34-acre lot. (There are also two docks, and a 10,000-pound boat lift.) There is a ceiling fan with blades shaped like palm leaves, The bed and two nightstands are being sold with the home.

The 71-square-foot primary bathroom is in two parts. First is a room with a pair of closets on the left while opposite is the single vanity with white cabinets, a marble countertop, and at a lower height, a makeup table underneath a large mirror. The second part is a water closet that includes a shower and toilet. The backsplash is gray porcelain tile.
The two secondary bedrooms are nearly the same size (136 square feet) and are in the front of the house. Between them is the second full bathroom with a single vanity, and a shower/bath combination behind a curtain. The backsplash is a blue porcelain tile.

The home is located in the River Forest Boating community, which has a social club “where neighbors gather for … activities and social events,” the listing describes.— There is an annual fee for the social club, but no HOA fee.
JetBlue Park is a 30-minute drive and the region’s famous beaches — Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and Captiva — are about 45 minutes away, Stroop said. By boat, the gulf is about 45 minutes via the Caloosahatchee River, which has mangroves and waterfront restaurants along the way.

Stobb of Eventide Realty Services in Fort Myers has the listing.
