Former Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Martin Perez is reportedly joining the Atlanta Braves on a minor league contract.
“The Braves and LHP Martin Perez have agreed to a Minor League deal, sources tell @JustBB_Media,” Aram Leighton of Just Baseball posted on X. “Perez, 35 in April, pitched to a 3.54 ERA in 56 IP with the White Sox in 2025. Owns a career 4.41 ERA over 14 seasons. Was an All Star with the Rangers in 2022.”

The 34-year-old southpaw spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Texas Rangers from 2012 to 2018 before pitching the 2019 campaign with the Minnesota Twins.
Perez signed with the Red Sox in December 2019 and played two seasons in Boston, going 10-13 with a 4.65 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 143 strikeouts across 176 innings pitched covering 48 games (34 starts).

He re-signed with the Rangers in March 2022 and had the best season of his career, making his only All-Star team. Perez finished the 2022 campaign 12-8 with a career-low 2.89 ERA and 1.25 WHIP across 32 starts.
The lefty earned a World Series ring with Texas in 2023, split the 2024 season between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres and was limited to 11 games covering 56 innings pitched with the Chicago White Sox in 2025.
