Nammi Vietnamese has officially opened its third Adelaide location, bringing pho, banh mi, noodle bowls and Vietnamese iced coffee to Grote Street in the CBD.
The growing Vietnamese eatery first built its following in Tonsley, where locals, healthcare workers, tradies and office workers helped turn the original Sturt Road shop into a go-to lunch spot. A second location followed on Richmond Road in Marleston, and now Nammi has made its most central move yet.
Behind the brand is owner Hoang Nguyen, whose love of hospitality began at home, with food shared among family, school communities and friends before eventually growing into a business.
“The first week has been really encouraging. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking opening a new location, but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve had a mix of new customers discovering us for the first time, along with many familiar faces who’ve followed us from our other stores. It’s been especially rewarding seeing people connect with the space and enjoy the food in a new setting.”
The new Grote Street restaurant has been built from the ground up, with a fresh shopfront and kitchen designed to feel warm, cosy and easy to settle into. For Nammi, the goal has been to create a relaxed city spot where people can drop in for a quick lunch, casual dinner or catch-up with friends.
“In many ways, it’s what we hoped for, but seeing it come to life has been even more special than expected. The biggest surprise has probably been how quickly the space has found its energy. It definitely didn’t take long for it to feel busy, warm, and lived-in. You can plan a lot before opening, but the atmosphere created by customers really completes it.”
The menu stays close to Vietnamese street-food favourites, with banh mi, noodle and salad bowls, cold rolls, pho noodle soup and Vietnamese iced coffee all on offer. Fans of the Richmond and Tonsley locations can expect the same generous, flavour-packed dishes, from crispy crackling pork banh mi with pickled veg and herbs to lemongrass chicken bun bowls and comforting beef pho.
“One of our favourite details is how the space reflects a balance between modern design and the casual, street-style feel of Vietnamese food culture. It still feels approachable and relaxed, which is really important to us. Another feature we love is the textured wall tiling, which adds an interesting touch and creates a bright and warming atmosphere. We wanted it to feel like somewhere you can drop in for a quick bite, but also sit and enjoy a meal.”
With three locations now open across Adelaide, Nammi’s growth has been shaped by the customers who first embraced the business and continued to follow it across the city.
“We’re most proud of being able to stay consistent with our food and values as we’ve grown. Keeping the quality, flavours, and experience the same across all locations is something we care deeply about. When people walk into Grote Street, we hope they feel welcome and comfortable, as if it’s a place they can return to regularly. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a relaxed meal, we want it to feel familiar, reliable, and genuinely enjoyable every time.”
