Feast Festival is stepping into an exciting new era, announcing a dynamic leadership team ahead of its milestone 30th anniversary in 2027.
The beloved South Australian queer arts festival has appointed Skye Bee as Executive Director and Katherine Sortini as Creative Director. This is the first time the organisation has formally appointed both roles in tandem.
It’s also the first time these leadership positions have been held by queer artists, a move that perfectly reflects Feast’s long-standing commitment to community, creativity, and authentic representation.
Together, Bee and Sortini bring a ton of experience across the arts, event production, and community engagement, with a shared vision for the festival’s future.
“Feast has always been more than a festival,” said Skye. “It is a living, breathing expression of queer culture, connection, and joy. This next chapter is about deepening that impact, creating space for bold artistic voices, and ensuring that access, inclusion, and care are embedded in everything we do.”
Skye is a multidisciplinary artist, producer and performer based on Kaurna Yerta, widely respected across Adelaide’s performing arts and queer communities. Their extensive background spans large-scale event delivery, inclusive arts practice, and organisational leadership.
Katherine steps into the newly created Creative Director role after already making a significant impact at Feast as Creative Producer, Artist and Venue Liaison. An acclaimed, award-winning theatre-maker, she is known for emotionally rich storytelling and deeply human work.
“Katherine is a powerful creative, with a remarkable body of work and the passion and vision to move us forward in meaningful ways,” said Skye. “Her appointment reflects our commitment to a strong and ambitious creative future for Feast.”
“Feast has always held an incredible amount of creative energy and this festival belongs to the community. For me, this next chapter is about harnessing that energy and giving it form – shaping a program that is bold, inclusive, and deeply reflective of the people it exists for. I’m excited to build something that feels both locally grounded and unapologetically expansive.”
The leadership announcement comes as Feast prepares for its 2026 festival, running from November 1st to 22nd, with Joy announced as the guiding theme.
And this isn’t just any kind of joy. “Joy is an act of rebellion,” said Skye. “In a world that often asks queer people to shrink, to justify, or to survive quietly, choosing joy is powerful. It is resistance. It is visibility. It is community. This Festival is an invitation to celebrate that, loudly and unapologetically.”
As Feast builds towards its landmark 30th anniversary in 2027, this year’s festival is shaping up to be the beginning of something truly special.
