Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sukumar Dutta, who was arrested on charges of extortion and intimidation, faced public wrath as angry BJP workers hurled eggs at him while he was being escorted from the police station to the subdivisional court. The leader had to be protected by the police and armed personnel who eventually managed to disperse the crowd and safely transport him. This incident follows a series of similar attacks on other party leaders in the state, driven by public outrage and allegations of multi-crore extortion.
