Dubai College rugby squads take on Cape Town

Dubai College’s U14 and U16 rugby squads have travelled to Cape Town for a 10-day end-of-season tour that will test them against strong South African opposition.

The squads left Dubai five days ago for the Western Cape, where rugby will sit alongside a programme of cultural and educational visits.

The players are due to visit Table Mountain, Aquila Private Game Reserve and the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport during the trip.

On the field, Dubai College will face Hamilton Rugby Club, Hermanus High School and Brackenfell High School. The fixtures should give both age groups a clear measure of where they stand against established rugby programmes in South Africa.

Dubai College Director of Rugby Jacques Benade said the players had been looking forward to the tour.

“The boys are incredibly excited, and I must say, they are extremely grateful”

The tour had originally been planned for the end of Term 2, but was postponed and later rearranged for the end of the academic year.
