DMK president M.K. Stalin on Thursday (September 10, 2026) accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of posting social media reels to cover up what he described as the “inefficient administration of the government” and “cheating an entire generation.”
“There is a saying that before the truth reaches the people, a lie would have reached everyone. That is what is happening now,” Mr. Stalin said in a video released in response to the Chief Minister, who had levelled a series of allegations against the DMK and its leaders and “body-shamed” him over the police attack he suffered during the Emergency, in the Assembly recently.
Addressing Mr. Vijay, the DMK leader said that Tamil Nadu is witnessing murders and sexual assaults on women everyday, and that the law and order situation is in disarray.
“By cancelling the airport project in Parandur, you have turned back the clock of development by 15 years. Though you promised a total crop loan waiver, you have not done it. You promised six free (LPG) cylinders but went back on your promise by announcing three cylinders. You promised to increase the Magalir Urimai Thittam amount to ₹2,500 but are continuing the DMK scheme of ₹1,000 a month. You have not opened your mouth on many promises,” Mr. Stalin said.
On Sarkaria Commission
Referring to the Sarkaria Commission inquiry into the alleged corruption in the DMK government led by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Mr. Stalin said there was no truth in what Mr. Vijay had said in the Assembly.
“Governments have changed in the State and at the Centre after the Sarkaria Commission report was submitted. If there is any truth in the report, there would have been action on it,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said the Chief Minister had harped on allegations levelled against Karunanidhi by others out of political hatred.
“You cited the letters of the Enforcement Directorate and accused us of corruption. In 95% of the allegations made by the ED, there was no proof, and those who faced the allegations were spared action,” he said.
Mr. Stalin said everyone was aware that the ED was being used to settle political scores against political parties.
“The ED has filed cases against leaders of the Congress, who are part of your alliance. I wonder how you are not aware of it, though you see the Union government as an ideological enemy,” he said.

“The Tamil Nadu Assembly has dignity and respect. It is a place from which great leaders shaped the State. You also have a responsibility. Debate on how to set the law and order situation right, secure the State’s rights and place the State on the path of development. Do not discuss unnecessary issues. It is good for Tamil Nadu and its people. It is my request,” he said.
Mr. Stalin also appealed to voters, particularly the youth, to ponder whether a change had been ushered in after they “voted for change.” “Watch whether it is a change. Understand which government is capable of administrative ability,” he said.
Mr. Stalin also called upon party cadres not to remain indifferent to the sufferings of the people on the ground because they had not voted for the DMK.
“It is not our ideology. As the two sides of a coin, I see it as another face of the work for the people. Whether in power or not, we should constantly fight for the rights and development of Tamil Nadu and its people. We fought for their grandfathers and their fathers and now for them. It is the history of the DMK,” he said.
