Gilead is tightening its grip again, with Disney+ confirming there is plenty more rebellion, brutality and Aunt Lydia terror still to come in The Testaments.
The Handmaid’s Tale follow up has officially secured a second season after building strong momentum on streaming, with audiences continuing to lean into Margaret Atwood’s dystopian world.
Disney+ announced the renewal on Thursday, with the Hulu Original drama continuing the story beyond The Handmaid’s Tale through Agnes and Daisy, two young women coming of age inside Gilead.

The series has reportedly streamed more than 45 million hours globally across Disney+ and Hulu, while viewership has continued climbing week to week throughout the season.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize winning novel, The Testaments follows Agnes and Daisy as they navigate Aunt Lydia’s elite school for future wives, where obedience is enforced with ruthless precision and their growing bond threatens to upend their futures.
The series stars Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li and Rowan Blanchard, with Elisabeth Moss also making a surprise guest appearance as June Osborn.
Production comes from MGM Television and 20th Television, with creator Bruce Miller serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Elisabeth Moss.
