Twenty years after Crooked investor and Philadelphia Phillies legend Ryan Howard captured the historic 2006 Home Run Derby title, Crooked will host its own competition at The Yard in Citizens Bank Park on June 30th.
Crooked Pop, the USDA-certified organic, zero-sugar hard soda created by Bai founder Ben Weiss, today announced a new partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies that brings the emerging beverage brand to fans at Citizens Bank Park.
Crooked Pop is now available for purchase at select locations throughout the ballpark, giving Phillies fans a new beverage option made with Crooked’s proprietary organic alcohol base, OSAVA.
To celebrate the partnership, Crooked Pop will host Ryan Howard’s Crooked Wiffle Ball Derby on Tuesday, June 30, at 3:30 p.m. at The Yard inside Citizens Bank Park.
The competition will feature a lineup of Philly personalities and creators, plus a limited number of additional entrants selected through promotions across social media and other online entry points.
Participants will compete on The Yard’s miniature Citizens Bank Park field before the Phillies host the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:40 p.m. The winner of the Crooked Wiffle Ball Derby will receive two (2) tickets to attend the actual Derby at Citizens Bank Park on July 13th, as well as win an exclusive custom Crooked Victus Bat signed by Ryan Howard.
The event carries special significance for Crooked partner and Phillies legend Ryan Howard; Twenty years ago, Howard won the 2006 Home Run Derby before completing one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Phillies’ history.
This summer, Crooked will bring its own version of the competition to Howard’s former home ballpark shortly before the Home Run Derby returns to Philadelphia.
“Philadelphia has always supported brands with personality, ambition, and a willingness to do things differently,” said Ben Weiss, founder of Crooked.
“Crooked Pop was created to challenge what people have come to expect from alcoholic beverages, and there is no better place to bring that energy to fans than Citizens Bank Park. Launching this partnership with a home run derby allows us to create something competitive, social, and unmistakably Philadelphia.”
Crooked’s connection to Philadelphia extends beyond the ballpark.
Howard is an investor in the company, while former Philadelphia Eagles captain Brandon Graham holds equity in the brand.
“Winning the Home Run Derby is one of the moments from my career that I’ll always remember, so there’s something pretty special about Crooked hosting a derby at Citizens Bank Park 20 years later,” said Howard.
“Philadelphia will always mean a great deal to me, and I invested in Crooked because I believe in the product, the people behind it, and the opportunity to build a brand that approaches things differently. Now we get to bring Crooked Pop into the ballpark, give people a chance to take their own swings and send the winner to experience the Home Run Derby when it returns to Philly.”

The Crooked Pop Wiffle Ball Crooked Derby marks the brand’s official introduction to the Philadelphia sports community and the first major activation of its partnership with the Phillies.
Crooked Pop is powered by OSAVA, Crooked’s proprietary organic alcohol base created through the fermentation of ancient grains, including quinoa, amaranth, millet, and cassava. The process produces a neutral alcohol base without relying on distilled spirits, traditional malt brewing, or artificial enhancements.
Each 12-ounce can of Crooked Pop contains only 80 calories, zero sugar, and fewer than one gram of carbohydrates. The product is USDA-certified organic, gluten-free, and vegan, with no artificial colors or sweeteners.
Crooked Pop is available in three nostalgic soda-inspired flavors:
- Orange Cream, a smooth take on the classic soda float
- Blackberry, combining sweet and tangy fruit flavor
- Cherry Lime, a bright blend of citrus and cherry
Additional information regarding participating creators and opportunities to earn a spot in the competition will be announced through Crooked’s social media channels and other online platforms.
