A cruise ship crew member went missing Saturday night, with surveillance footage showing them falling off the ship into Massachusetts waters, the US Coast Guard said.
A crew member of the Norwegian Breakaway, a cruise ship owned and operated by the Norwegian Cruise Line, went overboard 12 miles east of Wellfleet, the US Coast Guard said.
The cruise ship immediately turned around and deployed rescue boats and life rings, the Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England sent out a helicopter to help search for the missing person, the Coast Guard said.
The cruise ship was cleared to continue on with its journey, a spokesperson for Norwegian Cruise Line said.
On Sunday morning, a small plane and crews from the Coast Guard Station in Provincetown searched for the member, the Coast Guard said.
The search was called off at 12:25 p.m. pending new information, the Coast Guard said.
