Up to 20 Coonawarra wine producers are leaving the region’s famous Terra Rossa soils behind and heading to Adelaide for one of the city’s biggest regional wine tastings.

The Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow will return to the National Wine Centre on Friday, August 7, bringing between 100 and 150 wines together under one roof.

Now celebrating its 23rd year, the annual roadshow gives wine lovers the chance to taste their way through the Limestone Coast region while meeting the winemakers and family members behind each bottle.

The three-hour Adelaide event will feature producers ranging from established, multi-generational wineries to newer labels helping shape Coonawarra’s next chapter.

While the region is best known for its premium red wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, the tasting will also showcase Coonawarra’s growing selection of cool-climate whites.

Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris will be among the varieties available, alongside sparkling wines and an extensive collection of reds.

Coonawarra Vignerons Events and Marketing Manager Heidi Guyett said the roadshow allowed visitors to learn more about the region directly from its producers.

“There’s something special about meeting the people behind the wines – hearing their stories, learning about vintages, and discovering the character that makes Coonawarra so unique,” Heidi said.

Raidis Estate’s Emma Raidis said the event was about more than simply pouring wine, with producers able to share their family histories and build connections with visitors.

“It’s about meeting people face-to-face, sharing a laugh, telling our family’s story and showing why we’re so passionate about Coonawarra,” Emma said.

First launched in 2003, the roadshow has poured more than 15,000 Coonawarra wines across 125 events and introduced over 30,000 people to the region.

The 2026 metropolitan tour follows sold-out regional Victorian events in Geelong and Warrnambool during June.

After beginning in Adelaide, the producers will travel to Sydney for a tasting aboard the Starship Sydney on Sunday, August 9. The tour will then visit Melbourne on August 12, the Sunshine Coast on August 14 and Brisbane on August 16.

Adelaide tickets include entry, a souvenir RIEDEL wine glass, three hours of wine tastings, complimentary food and the opportunity to speak directly with participating producers.
