One of the most recognisable bubble tea brands is landing in Prospect, but this new venue has more to it than your standard pearl milk tea.
CoCo Bubble Tea, the Taiwanese-born chain with thousands of stores around the world, is landing in the space right across the from Prospect Library, complete with Japanese-style gelati, matcha ice cream and claw machines for kids.
“We wanted to bring a bubble tea shop to Prospect as there is no bubble tea in the area for kids to enjoy,” the owner said. “Our aim is focussing on families with young children, not only to enjoy bubble tea from the famous CoCo brand, but to also enjoy the large ice cream range from our collaboration shop Hyoka, which is presented by Matcha House.”
The venue has been set up as a place where kids can enjoy bubble tea, ice cream and claw machines, while families have a casual new stop for after-school treats, weekend outings or late-night dessert.
CoCo’s is known for their large range of tea based drinks, with the standout being their pearl milk tea, as well as fruit teas and slushies.
“Hyoka specialises in Asian-influenced gelati, with Japanese matcha being the most popular,” the owner said.
“We offer different matcha gelati strengths, as well as hojicha, black sesame, durian and more than 20 other flavours to choose from.”
“With the booming matcha trend, it just seems that now people cant get enough of it.”
CoCo’s menu features favourites such as Jasmine Milk Tea, CoCo Milk Tea, Chunky Mango Dream, Sago Taro Milk Tea, Mango Pomelo Sago and Bubble Gaga Tea. Hyoka brings together Asian-inspired gelati flavours with the matcha focus Matcha House has built its name on since 2014. The name itself is a playful nod to ice cream, with hyōka also meaning frozen dessert in Japanese.
“Because there are two shops in one place, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, whether it’s a drink or ice cream.”
CoCo and Hyoka plans to open in the coming week, bringing more late night ice-cream dates to Prospect.
