Clinton Morrison gives honest verdict on Pierre Sage’s position following horror start to season

He told GB News: “After the weekend, I thought it was going to be Sage. When your emotions are high after a game, you’re thinking instantly, we shouldn’t be losing 5-0 to Brighton, even though Brighton have started the season fantastically.

“Do I think he should have lost his job? After the weekend, I was thinking, yeah, but when you sit down and have time to dissect it, you think maybe he should be given a bit of time.

“You think about Oliver Glasner’s reign at the club, and he brought three trophies. When you lose the heartbeat of your defence, and you don’t bring in ready replacements, it is always going to be difficult for the manager.

“The first one I thought would go was (Alvaro) Arbeloa. It’d probably be between Pierre Sage and Arbeloa for now. I know there’s a lot of managers under pressure.
