Khamzat Chimaev will headline Real American Freestyle’s first event in Abu Dhabi after the professional wrestling league agreed a five-year deal to stage events in the UAE capital.
The opening show will take place at Etihad Arena on Yas Island on November 14, with Chimaev’s opponent still to be announced.
Arman Tsarukyan, Henry Cejudo, Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Snyder and Abdulrashid Sadulaev have also been confirmed for the card. Their match-ups will be announced closer to the event.
The agreement involves Real American Freestyle, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and the UAE Wrestling Federation. Fans can already register for priority access through Visit Abu Dhabi, with ticket details to follow.
Chimaev will be the main local draw. The 32-year-old represents the UAE and has already competed three times for RAF, recording wins over Dillon Danis, Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. RAF lists him with a 3-0 record.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Saeed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Secretary General of the UAE Wrestling Federation, said the agreement could help develop wrestling in the country.
“This five-year partnership marks an important step in the continued growth of wrestling in the UAE,” he said.
“Bringing world-class athletes and international events to Abu Dhabi will not only strengthen the country’s position on the global wrestling stage, but also inspire the next generation of athletes and support the long-term development of the sport.”
RAF launched in Cleveland in August 2025, with its format based on competitive freestyle wrestling rather than scripted professional wrestling. The promotion has since staged international events in Tbilisi and Moscow, making Abu Dhabi its third international market.
The full RAF Abu Dhabi card, Chimaev’s opponent and broadcast details are due to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
