The Gold Walkley-winning Four Corners team that exposed serious failures across the sector is putting the reforms to the test.

Reporter Adele Ferguson reveals some of the most shocking CCTV vision of children being assaulted, a horrifying reality of what can happen in childcare when safety standards fail, and in this centre in far north Queensland when no one was watching.

The case exposes a largely hidden part of the childcare system. Four Corners has identified 473 services operating outside the National Quality Framework, without the same national standards and scrutiny.

From remote centres to some of our big for-profit chains, this investigation lays bare just how vulnerable children can be when safeguards fail, and interrogates whether the government is doing enough, fast enough, to keep children safe.

Four Corners: Monstrous airs tonight, Monday 26 October at 8.30pm on ABC and ABC iview.
