Central Coast Mariners have appointed club legend John Hutchinson as their new Head Coach ahead of the 2026-27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Hutchinson joins the club on a two-year deal having most recently been in charge of J2 League side Júbilo Iwata and takes the reigns after Warren Moon’s exit at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 46-year-old was also previously part of Aussie great Ange Postecoglou’s coaching staff at J1 League giants Yokohama F. Marinos.

Furthermore, Hutchinson also formed part of Socceroos legend Harry Kewell’s coaching staff at the same club and eventually took over the side in an interim capacity following Kewell’s departure.
A popular figure in Gosford, Hutchinson is still the Mariners all-time leading appearance maker having played 271 games for the club during a 10 year association with the Central Coast.

“John is an icon of the Central Coast Mariners and to have him back is amazing for the club.” Simon said.
“As a player, he embodied everything this football club stands for. He was a leader, a fierce competitor and someone who always put the team first. Those qualities have carried through into his coaching career.
