Celtics forward Jordan Walsh has agreed to a three-year, $16 million contract extension with the franchise, according to “NBA on Prime’s” Chris Haynes.
The deal keeps Walsh under contract through 2030. The Celtics exercised a $2.4 million team option for this upcoming season. Walsh’s three-year extension will kick in after that.
Walsh played in 68 games for the Celtics last season, making 25 starts. The 6-foot-6, 205-pound forward earned a role in the rotation with his defense, but his offensive game has also steadily improved.
He shot 50.9 percent from the field last season, including 38.4 percent from 3-point range. He also knocked down 77 percent of his free-throw attempts.
The 22-year-old forward drew some of Boston’s toughest defensive assignments during the regular season. His minutes dipped from 17.8 in the regular season to 12.7 in the postseason, but he played in all seven games against the 76ers in the first round.
Walsh has been with the Celtics since he was taken No. 38 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. He spent the bulk of his rookie season with the Maine Celtics in 2024. He appeared in 52 games for the Celtics in 2025, averaging just 7.8 minutes per game.
This past season, Walsh hit career-highs in minutes (17.8 per game), rebounds (4 per game), and steals (0.7 per game).
Walsh said in April that at one point last season coach Joe Mazzulla had told the young forward that his career was dead in the water.
Now he has a new deal with the team that could keep him in Boston for a while.
