A Cambridge woman is facing DUI charges after a deadly wrong-way crash on Friday.

Sosa Samura, 41, of Cambridge, is charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, operating under the influence as a second offense, operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and improper operation of a motor vehicle in Cambridge District Court Wednesday, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Samura was driving on Main Street when she allegedly backed her vehicle into another vehicle, causing damage, the DA said. The operator of the damaged vehicle followed Samura, who allegedly sped away from the scene.

Samura reportedly traveled the wrong way down Market Street and struck a vehicle operated by Susana Casillo, 51, of Cambridge, at the intersection with Columbia Street, the DA said.

Responding officers observed Samura to have glassy eyes and slurred speech as well as an odor of alcohol, officials said.

Samura was arrested and transported to a local hospital. Casillo was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the DA said.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Cambridge police, and State Police are continuing to investigate, the DA said.

Samura is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Tuesday, the DA said. Samura’s lawyer, Kenneth Resnik, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.
