A gentle and fun way to ease into the last day of the Cabaret Festival — Tina Del Twist is an class act

After three full weekends and many late nights (and several glasses of Corryton Burge wines) at the Cabaret Festival, Tina Del Twist hosted the perfect cure to ease into the final day of this year’s festival. 

The glorious Tina Del Twist hosted several rounds of bingo and created such a laidback and carefree environment — a balm for us Cabaret Festival die-hards. Between bingo games, Tina sang snippets of songs, all unaccompanied. She has a stunning, smooth-as-silk voice that I hope to hear more of in future shows (hint, hint Reuben! Bring Tina back!).

Tina’s effervescent personality was only outshone by her dress. Her humour is quick and she clearly knows how to work a room — no easy feat at 11.30am on a Sunday morning!

The prizes on offer ranged from photos of Tina, very cheap two-dollar shop offerings, through to drink vouchers and bottles of Corryton Burge wines. The winners were all handed their prizes complete with Tina’s quick one-liners and brilliant off-the-cuff remarks. 

The ticket price also included a simple but tasty brunch including fruit, pastries, muffins and yoghurt with berry compote. All were delicious (kudos to the Angry Penguin kitchen staff) and the perfect accompaniment to this very casual hour of entertainment. 

This was the first time this reviewer has seen Tina Del Twist perform live and it certainly won’t be the last. Do what you can to secure a ticket next time you see her name appear on any billing. 

Brunch ’n’ Bingo was a great new feature to the Cabaret Festival programming and judging by the reaction from the sell-out crowd, this hopefully will become a new staple of the festival’s programming.
