A 28-year-old man was beaten to death with an iron pipe in broad daylight in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, with the entire attack captured on CCTV camera. The accused is seen repeatedly striking the man, including several blows to his head, in an attack that lasted just seconds.
The incident took place around 3 pm in front of Paradise Hotel in Sagar. The victim was identified as Ankit Patel, a resident of Manas Nagar.
The CCTV footage shows Ankit getting into an argument with the accused over an unspecified issue. The confrontation soon turned violent, with the accused picking up an iron pipe and attacking him.
The attacker is seen repeatedly hitting Ankit, including striking him on the head. The assault continued for around 16 seconds, with the accused landing 14 blows to his head, according to the footage.
People who were present nearby initially gathered to watch the argument. However, as the attack intensified, several of them moved away from the spot.
BYSTANDERS TRY TO STOP ATTACK
People at shops and establishments around Paradise Hotel, including showrooms, tea and paan stalls, snack shops and dairy outlets, were also caught up in the panic. Some shopkeepers shut their establishments and left the area.
Some bystanders attempted to intervene and stop the accused, but he continued attacking Ankit. Another man eventually managed to grab the accused and pull him away from the victim. The accused then fled the spot.
POLICE BEGIN INVESTIGATION
Police reached the spot after being informed about the attack and took Ankit to a hospital. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.
Police have taken the CCTV footage into their investigation and are working to identify and trace the accused.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation, including whether the two men had a previous dispute or whether the argument suddenly turned violent, are being investigated.
The daylight killing has triggered panic in the area, with police examining the CCTV footage as a key piece of evidence.
