Festive fashion trends do not have to start with festive clothes. The Spring 2027 ready-to-wear collections may belong to next summer, but some of their best ideas have arrived right on time for Diwali parties, wedding invitations and everything else currently filling the calendar.
More importantly, there is plenty here that can be borrowed without buying a completely new wardrobe. Prada reconsidered the skirt, jewellery migrated beyond the usual neck-and-ear territory and Saint Laurent went all in on gold. The takeaway? Look at the clothes you already associate with festive fashion, then wear them a little differently.
1. Swap the lehenga for a new silhouette

The skirt had quite the moment at Prada, with familiar shapes reconsidered through unexpected cuts and proportions. Take the hint this festive season and look beyond the usual voluminous lehenga. A dropped-waist skirt, an asymmetric wrap or a long, narrow silhouette can feel just as dressed up, particularly when paired with an ornate choli or heirloom jewellery.
