The Bombay High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the death of Disha Salian, citing suspicious circumstances and gaps in the earlier police investigation. The court noted several lapses, including a delayed spot panchnama, unexplained police presence at the flat, absent blood-stained earth, and inconsistencies regarding injuries such as the lack of jaw or nasal fractures following a fall from height. The High Court directed the appointment of a senior CBI official, stating that no individual will be treated as an accused until reasonable evidence of an offence is established. The court ruling has drawn reactions from political parties and Disha Salian’s family, with her father Satish Salian welcoming the CBI inquiry. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ram Kadam supported the order, questioning previous government actions, while Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar leader Supriya Sule stated she believed the matter was already concluded. The CBI will proceed with recording statements as part of the fresh probe into the case.
