The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an “immediate, impartial and comprehensive” investigation into the “attacks” on its State office in Hyderabad, Nalgonda district office, residence of its district president Nagam Varshit Reddy, and the alleged desecration of a portrait of Sant Ravidas Ji on Tuesday.
In a memorandum submitted to DGP C.V. Anand, the party delegation led by legislature party floor leader Payal Shankar alleged that persons associated with the Youth Congress were responisble for the attack on State office. The party further alleged that around 50 persons armed with sticks and stones attacked the Nalgonda district office while another mob attacked the residence of Mr. Varshit Reddy, damaged household property and assaulted his mother, causing injuries.

He also condemned the alleged defacement of Sant Ravidas Ji’s portrait, saying the act had hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community members. The party urged authorities to preserve CCTV footage, videos and other evidence, identify all those involved, register cases under applicable laws and provide adequate security to BJP offices, leaders and cadre. It also demanded that investigations be conducted without political interference, in accordance with the principle of equality before the law and take strict action against those responsible.
