A Barossa Valley favourite has shone on the world stage, taking home the coveted Shiraz Producer of the Year title at the 2026 London Wine Competition.
Boutique, family-owned winery Kellermeister Wines delivered a commanding performance at one of the world’s most respected wine competitions, with all three of its flagship Shiraz wines taking home gold medals. Its premium release, The Meister Shiraz, was awarded the prestigious Double Gold, and the Wild Witch Shiraz and Black Sash Shiraz both took home Gold.
Held each year in London, the competition is known for its rigorous blind-tasting process, judged by more than 70 international wine experts, including Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, senior buyers and wine directors, proving that standing out here is no small feat.
For Kellermeister owner and chief winemaker Mark Pearce, the recognition is the latest in a long list of global accolades. Since joining the winery in 2010 and acquiring it in 2012, Mark has transformed Kellermeister into an international Shiraz powerhouse.
“It’s a joy to now work closely with my sons Hugo and Rupert, who have joined me in the last couple of years as the second generation in our family winery and who I now work closely with,” said Mark Pearce. “Together we continue to chase the dream of crafting the very best wines we can produce in this beautiful region, which I believe is the archetypal home for Shiraz in the New World, informed by the timeless wisdom of the inspiration I derive from the Rhône in France, and the unique power of our ancient vines in the Barossa.”
The winery’s trophy cabinet already includes Best Shiraz in the World, Wine of the Year at the London Wine Competition, multiple Syrah du Monde honours, and back-to-back Best Barossa Shiraz trophies at the London International Wine Competition.
Mark’s success comes from a winemaking philosophy that combines the old with the new. For more than a decade, he has made annual trips to France’s Rhône Valley, the historic home of Shiraz, drawing inspiration from centuries-old techniques and traditions.
These overseas experiences, combined with what’s happening in the Barossa, are what provide Kellermeister with its distinctive edge. Home to some of the world’s oldest phylloxera-free Shiraz vines, the region offers fruit of exceptional depth, concentration and character. Combined with Mark’s meticulous approach, the result is a range of wines that consistently perform at the highest level.
For those looking to taste the award-winning collection, The Meister Shiraz retails for $350 per bottle, the Wild Witch Shiraz for $88 a bottle and Black Sash Shiraz for $92 a bottle.
