At least 10 injured in shooting at lake party in Oklahoma, more victims expected

At least 10 people are in hospital and more victims are expected to be announced after a shooting at a lake party in South Central US.

Authorities received several reports of a shooting at Arcadia Lake, in Edmond near Oklahoma City, about 9pm on Sunday.

Ten wounded partygoers were transported to metro hospitals “in various conditions”.

“However there will be more victim numbers coming in as some did take their own personal vehicles to the hospital,” Edmond Police Department spokesperson Emily Ward said.

Ward said police have not taken anyone into custody.

“There’s no reason to believe there’s a threat to the public,” she said.

Authorities said a large group of young adults had gathered at the lake before the shooting took place.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation and we understand the concern from the public and those involved and we are working extremely hard to find these suspects and help these victims,” Ward said.

Authorities are working in tough conditions — it has just gone past 1am in Oklahoma — and will remain at the scene well into Monday morning.

“We’re taking witness statements, we’re kind of all over the metro speaking with victim and witnesses,” Ward said.

“So that’s what we’ll be doing in these next multiple hours.”
