Amy Hunt has shared that her “dreams have come true” after winning an historic fourth gold medal at the European Athletics Championship.
The 24-year-old sealed her incredible quadruple in the inaugural mixed 4x100m relay final in front of a sold-out crowd at the Alexander Stadium.
Dina Asher-Smith also won her 11th medal, moving her to the outright top of the European Athletics Championships all-time list.
Speaking afterwards, Hunt described feeling “sensational” to have completed the unprecedented feat.

She told the BBC: “It’s just a dream come true – I’ll remember this week for the rest of my life.
“I think it surpassed my expectations for myself at this champs, not in terms of just the golds, but how I’ve handled myself, how I’ve handled all the pressure, the attention, the recovery, the discipline of it all.
“Not getting too caught up in the highs and staying kind of true to myself, keeping humble and keeping my foot on the gas the whole way through the week.
“Seven races in seven days is no easy feat.”

The 24-year-old compared the feeling to the adrenaline rush people get on a theme park ride.
Hunt continued: “It was a bit like when you’re queueing for a rollercoaster, and you’re a little nervous, and you’re seeing the drops and stuff.
“Then when you get off, you want to do it again. So it was that adrenaline kick, certainly. I loved the event.”
The British star praised her teammates Jeremiah Azu, Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes for their incredible performance in the event.

She said: “To do it all together is incredible, especially because that was the first time we did that changeover about an hour ago in warm-up.
“And look how smooth it was. Such professionals.”
Asher-Smith joined Polish sprinter Irena Szewinska on 10 European medals with the women’s 4×100 relay triumph on Saturday before becoming the lone athlete on 11 medals with the victory.
Commenting on the triumph, Asher-Smith said: “It hasn’t sunk in at all.

“At this point in my career, I’m just having fun. I’m just seeing what can be maxed out because I’m fortunate enough to stand on the line, and I don’t really have much to prove.
“I’d like an Olympic gold, but that’s kind of the only thing that’s on my bucket list.
“Being able to kind of come here and just kind of have fun and do some more events is a privilege. It’s definitely a privilege.”
