Amazon announced this week its hiring for more than 300,000 seasonal jobs this holiday season, 6,000 of which are based in Massachusetts.

Amazon will be hiring part-time and full-time employees across its U.S. core operations network this holiday season, according to a release; 3,000 of the jobs will be in the Boston area.

Seasonal employees earn an average of $20 per hour, officials said, and many will have the opportunity to transition into full-time roles. The company also announced that beginning on Jan. 1, seasonal employees working at least 30 hours per week will become eligible for health care coverage.

Jobs can fill quickly and are posted on a rolling basis, with new openings posted weekly through December, Amazon officials said. To apply, applicants can visit the Amazon Jobs website or text NEWJOB to 31432 for alerts.

“The holidays bring a special energy across our Massachusetts operations, and we’re glad to be welcoming thousands of new teammates this season,” said Jonathan Greeley, Amazon’s principal for economic development in New England.

Amazon isn’t the only company planning to hire seasonal employees this holiday season. Target announced it is adding 1,900 seasonal team members across Boston to help meet local demand.

“Our team is what makes the holidays at Target so special,” said Emily Hebert, Target senior vice president of human resources field and operations.

Interested applicants can apply on the Target website.
