Alia Bhatt’s sari looks have always been spectacular. But at the premiere of Ranbir Kapoor’s latest movie Ramayana, the actor wore a look that could become the foundation of your wedding-gust wardrobe. If you have ever wondered how to elevate a simple sari—Bhatt has just the solution for you. The actor paired a simple linen sari with an ornamented, bikini-inspired blouse, which took the term wearable jewellery to newer heights.
Alia Bhatt paired a classic linen sari from designer Anavila Misra’s namesake label. The chambray effect-sari—a technique that uses two different coloured warp and weft thread, one of which is indigo—featured bright blue selvedges that enlivened the fabric’s colour palette. The pièce de résistance was the bejewelled blouse custom designed by designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula. Crafted entirely by layering antique-finish Afghani and North-West Frontier jewellery like metal chains, traditional pendants, coins, coloured stones, beads and dangling charms, the designer duo wanted to turn the blouse itself into wearable jewellery rather than using these elements purely as embellishments.
