Alex Wright went down with an apparent leg injury and was carted off the field in the Browns’ latest practice.
The Cleveland Browns have some storylines surrounding their team for this upcoming season, and one of them is how the defense will perform without Myles Garrett. They still have top playmakers at several positions on the field, but the defensive line is going to be the driving point of their success.
The one thing the Browns just don’t need at this time is injuries, and they suffered one in their recent practice to Alex Wright. The defensive end had to be carted off the field with what is being called an apparent leg injury.
There’s usually not much great news when a cart comes out for a player, but there are still times when the injury isn’t as bad as it looks. The Browns are hoping that the latter applies to them.
Wright has been key for the Browns in his stint, totaling 11.5 sacks in four seasons, with a career-high 5.5 coming in 2025. He’s going to be important for the Browns this season if they want to get to the quarterback, and he noted earlier in training camp that it won’t be a problem for his team to do so.
“I have no doubt that we’re going to get after the quarterback like we’ve been getting after the quarterback. We’re not going to have any issue getting after the quarterback. So that’s about it. I can’t speak on a game plan from them, but at the end of the day, I have faith in my four,” Wright said via Ashley Bastock of cleveland.com.
The Browns were able to add Jared Verse to the line this offseason, as he was part of the trade that sent Garrett to the Rams. Verse should make a difference, and his play will elevate the Browns’ line.
For now, all eyes will be on Wright and how serious his injury is.
