Adelaide weather forecast for Sunday April 26th and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a cooler, showery start to Sunday before a much sunnier and warmer stretch settles in across the week, with temperatures climbing back towards 29 degrees by midweek and holding there into next weekend.

Today will be the most unsettled day of the seven-day outlook for Adelaide, with a high chance of showers through the morning and the chance of a thunderstorm early in the day before skies clear in the afternoon. A top of 22 degrees is forecast for the city, with light winds becoming southwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h around midday before turning southeasterly later on. That early wet weather is also prompting a road weather alert, with slippery roads expected to make driving conditions dangerous on Sunday morning.

By Monday, conditions will improve quickly. There is the chance of morning fog, but Adelaide is heading for a sunny afternoon and a milder top of 25 degrees. Light winds will become east to southeasterly during the late afternoon before easing again at night. Tuesday keeps that settled pattern in place, with mostly sunny skies, light winds and another top of 25 degrees.

The middle of the week brings a noticeable lift in warmth. Wednesday is forecast to reach 29 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with east to northeasterly winds strengthening to 15 to 20 km/h through the day. Thursday looks very similar, with another mostly sunny day and a top of 29 degrees, as northwest to northeasterly winds continue.

That late-autumn warmth is expected to linger into Friday, although there are signs of a change by later in the day. Adelaide is forecast to reach 29 degrees again, with a mostly sunny morning followed by a slight chance of a shower later. By Saturday, the cloud increases and showers become more likely, with a high chance of rain and possible rainfall totals of up to 9 mm. The city is expected to reach 28 degrees, with north to northwesterly winds picking up through the morning. For anyone planning outdoor events, the back half of the week still looks great overall, but Saturday is the day to watch if you are hoping to stay dry.

Across regional South Australia, Sunday starts with showers across the agricultural area, clearing east during the day, along with possible early thunderstorms about central districts and early fog in the west. Maximum temperatures are generally below average, though the southeast is tending slightly above average. Coastal areas can also expect fresh southwest to southeasterly winds at times.

From Monday, the state settles under a ridge and then a developing high, bringing morning fog patches to agricultural districts, partly cloudy skies near the coasts and mostly sunny conditions inland. Tuesday and Wednesday continue that calmer trend, with mostly sunny weather across much of the state and temperatures lifting above average through the agricultural areas by Tuesday and more broadly by Wednesday. Rainfall totals through to the end of Wednesday are expected to stay light for most districts, though localised falls of 5 to 10 mm were possible with overnight and early Sunday thunderstorms, most likely about Lower Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and southern Yorke Peninsula.

Happy Sunday!
