Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday June 20th and the days ahead

Adelaide is in for a chilly but fairly calm week, with below-average temperatures sticking around across the city and only a few light showers interrupting an otherwise dry run. After a showery start today, conditions are expected to gradually settle, with brighter skies returning by the end of the working week.

For Saturday, Adelaide will see a shower or two early, with the rain becoming less likely later this afternoon and into the evening. Partly cloudy skies will linger, and with a top of just 15 degrees, it will feel properly wintry across the metro area. Light winds will shift south to southeasterly around the middle of the day before easing again. Hills spots like Mount Barker will stay cooler, reaching only around 12 degrees.

Sunday keeps the cool pattern going, with another top of 15 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is only a slight chance of a shower, most likely later in the day, though many suburbs may stay dry. Northern suburbs could wake to a touch of morning fog, which may make for a slower start on the roads. By Monday, Adelaide’s forecast remains much the same, partly cloudy, light winds, and only a slight chance of a shower about the southern suburbs. The city is tipped to dip to 6 degrees overnight before reaching 15 degrees during the day.

Tuesday brings a similar story, though northwesterly winds are expected to pick up during the day before easing again in the afternoon. There is a slight chance of a shower, but nothing especially disruptive is on the cards for the metro area. The daytime maximum holds at 15 degrees, continuing the run of cooler-than-average conditions.

By Wednesday, cloud cover is expected to thicken a little, with a slight chance of a shower and a marginal lift in temperature to 16 degrees. Thursday stays partly cloudy with light winds becoming east to northeasterly during the day, and again only a slight shower chance. The week then finishes on a brighter note, with Friday forecast to be sunny to mostly sunny and a touch milder, reaching 17 degrees. After several cold, grey days, that late-week sunshine will be welcome for anyone planning outdoor lunches, school drop-offs, or a quick walk along the coast.

Across the rest of South Australia, the broader pattern is also leaning cool and settled, thanks to a high pressure system moving over the Bight through the weekend and early next week. Isolated showers are expected about the Southern Agricultural Area today, with some light falls also possible in the south of the pastoral districts and western parts of the state.

Southern coastal districts are the most likely places to see showers on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, while inland areas are more likely to contend with morning fog and patchy frost. Frost is expected in parts of the Agricultural Area early in the period, then in parts of the Flinders, Mid North and Murray districts by Tuesday morning. Rainfall totals are generally expected to stay light, though southern coasts and ranges could pick up isolated totals of 15 to 25 mm by the end of Tuesday. For Adelaide’s coastal waters, seas and swell remain low through to Tuesday, with no major marine concerns in the local metropolitan waters.

Happy Saturday!
