Adelaide is set for a wet and wintry week, with rain building from today and sticking around right through to the weekend so for anyone heading out across the city, keep the umbrella handy and allow extra travel time.
Today starts under thick cloud, with showers developing through this afternoon and evening and a top of 19 degrees. Northeasterly winds will keep things cool rather than bitter, but there’s a real chance of a decent soaking, with 5 to 15mm possible across Adelaide.
Tuesday looks even wetter, with rain expected and a top of 20 degrees after a mild overnight low of 15.
That pattern barely shifts on Wednesday, when another cloudy day and more rain are on the cards, alongside freshening winds that turn from the northeast to northerly later in the day. Rainfall totals could again be significant, making the middle of the week the soggiest stretch for the city.
By Thursday, Adelaide stays grey and unsettled, with showers most likely later in the day as stronger northerly winds pick up before swinging northwesterly in the afternoon. Temperatures will dip, with the city only reaching 17 degrees after a low of 11, giving the back half of the week a colder feel.
Friday keeps the wet weather going with showers, a top of 16 degrees and brisk northwesterly winds shifting southwesterly through the day, which should reinforce that winter bite.
Saturday offers a small improvement, but not a full clear-up, with partly cloudy skies and the chance of a shower or two.
Sunday brings the best chance of a breather, with only a possible shower, light winds and a cooler top of 15 degrees after an overnight low of 8. Even then, it won’t be a sunny finish, just a quieter one.
