Adelaide weather forecast for Monday July 6th and the days ahead

Adelaide is set for a cold but fairly calm run through most of this week, with dry days, chilly mornings and only a slight chance of rain before a wetter weekend moves in.

For the rest of Monday, Adelaide is looking partly cloudy with a top of 16 degrees, while suburbs including Elizabeth and Glenelg sit around 15 degrees and Mount Barker stays cooler at 13.

Tuesday shapes up as one of the brighter days of the week, with mostly sunny skies and a cool start of 7 degrees before reaching 17.

By Wednesday, cloud starts to build again, though Adelaide is still expected to stay dry. A low of 8 and a top of 17 are forecast, with light winds and some northeasterly movement during the morning.

Thursday brings a similar temperature range, starting at 9 and climbing to 17, with partly cloudy skies and only a slight chance of a shower.

Friday continues the run of cool but manageable winter weather. Adelaide is forecast to reach 17 after an overnight low of 8, with mostly sunny conditions and just a slight chance of a shower.

The bigger shift arrives over the weekend. Saturday turns cloudy with a high chance of showers and a top of 17, while winds strengthen and swing from north to northeasterly before turning northwesterly during the day. Rainfall totals of 1 to 9mm are possible, and it is likely to feel much more wintry than the quieter days before it.

Sunday stays unsettled, with cloudy skies, a very high chance of showers and a cooler top of 15. Northwesterly winds are expected to turn westerly during the day, keeping conditions brisk and damp across Adelaide.

Across regional South Australia, morning frost and fog are a feature early in the week, especially about the agricultural area, and maximum temperatures are expected to stay below average right through to Thursday. From Tuesday, showers begin developing across central parts of the pastoral districts before extending into the West Coast district by evening. That unsettled pattern spreads further on Wednesday and Thursday, with showers about the pastoral districts and the West Coast, and a chance of isolated showers over the agricultural area on Thursday afternoon. There is also the possibility of thunderstorms in the far northeast on Thursday afternoon. Rainfall is expected to remain light for many southern districts, but parts of the west and north could see 2 to 10mm, with isolated falls of 10 to 20mm possible.
