Adelaide weather forecast for Friday April 24th and the days ahead

Adelaide is heading into a warm few days before showers, a possible thunderstorm and a noticeable drop in temperature across the city. After a mostly sunny Friday and a dry, warm Saturday morning, the long weekend pattern shifts on Saturday night, with Sunday looking like the coolest and wettest day of the next week.

Today, Adelaide is in for a pleasant day under mostly sunny skies, with a top of 27 degrees in the city and slightly warmer conditions further north. Winds will move around through the day, starting from the north to northeasterly before turning more northwesterly and then back easterly later on, but overall it should be a comfortable end to the working week.

Saturday starts off bright and warm, with the city climbing to 28 degrees after a mild overnight low of 17. Cloud and showers are expected to push in later in the day, and there’s also the chance of a thunderstorm at night as winds shift from the north and northeast to a cooler west to southwesterly change in the late afternoon.

That change will be most noticeable on Sunday, when Adelaide drops back to a top of just 21 degrees. Showers are likely, especially in the morning, and there’s still the chance of a morning thunderstorm before conditions gradually ease. It will feel much cooler than Saturday, with south to southwesterly winds adding to the autumn bite through the afternoon.

By Monday, the city will settle quickly again. Adelaide is forecast to return to mostly sunny conditions with a top of 24 degrees after a chilly 12-degree start.

The warmer pattern then rebuilds through the middle of next week. Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies and a top of 27 degrees, although winds will shift from east to northeasterly before turning west to southwesterly during the day. Wednesday stays mild with a partly cloudy forecast and 28 degrees, while Thursday looks even warmer at 29 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Across South Australia, Friday remains dry, with cloud increasing over the west and temperatures sitting above average in many districts. The bigger statewide change arrives on Saturday as showers develop around western and southern coastal districts before spreading into remaining agricultural areas by evening. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible about the southern agricultural areas and West Coast. Rainfall totals are expected to stay fairly modest in most places, with the far north remaining dry and much of the southern pastoral, West Coast and northern agricultural districts seeing less than 2mm through to the end of Monday. The Peninsulas and Kangaroo Island could see 2 to 5mm, with local falls of 10mm where isolated thunderstorms develop.

Regional conditions begin to clear from the west on Sunday, though showers will linger through agricultural areas in the morning before contracting eastwards. Coastal parts can also expect fresh winds at times, especially around the south. By Monday, only light showers are expected around southern coastal fringes, while the rest of the state turns mostly dry under slightly cooler than average temperatures.

Happy Friday!
