The after-party moved to Rajmahal, where Kaur changed into a Manish Malhotra sharara set. Shah changed into a white mirrorwork jacket layered over a sheer kurta with wide-leg trousers. Projections of poetry and their wedding date, 224, ran across the ceiling, alongside a tower of Coca-Cola cans, a nod to their shared habit. “At the end of the night, Kartik and I had the best Maggi noodles I’ve ever had,” she says.
The next morning’s vatna and haldi took place by the Rajvilas pool as The Wandering Indian Bazaar. Guests moved through stalls offering Indian sweets, parandis, shawls, custom lakh bangles and block-printed totes. There were live food counters, a drummer collaborating with the DJ and game setups including a custom carrom board and a snake-and-ladders tapestry embroidered with their names. Kaur wore a custom denim set by Sajda with beadwork, zardozi and crochet florals, paired with Betsey Johnson heels and fresh flower jewellery. Shah wore a denim wrap shirt with embroidered florals and linen trousers.
Kaur also created a wardrobe guide for guests, suggesting jewel tones for the sangeet, pinks and purples for the haldi and a wider Jaipur palette for the Anand Karaj. She and Shah carried disposable cameras across events, each decorated with KG logo stickers and childhood photographs of the couple. “We distributed them to our closest friends and cousins for their POVs,” Shah says. “Those photos are priceless.”
That evening, the mehfil at Taj Devi Ratn took place against a backdrop inspired by the Amer stepwell, with mirror mosaics, ivory draping, gold accents and candlelight. Amrita Kaur performed Punjabi and Hindi songs live with her band. The menu included North Indian food, Rajasthani specialities and Burmese and Thai dishes, with live counters for chaat and daal baati choorma. Kaur wore a royal blue zardozi sari by ITRH with peacock motifs, a mirrorwork blouse and a harness. She paired it with Sunita Shekawat earrings, gold sahare from her family collection, a peacock ring, Bhavya Ramesh finger armour and custom lakh bangles made by a local Jaipuri artist. Shah wore a custom red velvet outfit chosen to complement Kaur’s sari.
Late that night, back at Rajvilas, Kaur’s chooda ceremony took place in Kohinoor Villa. Her mamus carried her from her room to the living area, where the ceremony had been arranged. She kept her eyes closed as they placed the bangles on both wrists, which were then covered so she would only see them the next morning. Kaur wore her mother’s mehndi-green doli suit from 1995, the same one her mother wore after her Anand Karaj, with a red phulkari gifted by her cousin. She also wore the exact jewellery set her mother had worn with the suit.
