Brisbane Roar have moved into the Ninja A-League’s top six after Daisy Brown’s maiden professional goal was enough to see her side defeat Melbourne Victory 1-0 at the Home of the Matildas.
Clear-cut chances were few and far between in the first half but it was Brisbane Roar forward Bente Jansen who wasted the best chance of the half as she drilled a powerful effort straight at Victory keeper Courtney Newbon.

Dominating the first 10 minutes of the second half, Brisbane Roar took a deserved lead in the 56th minute and it was a moment to remember for Daisy Brown as she bundled the ball home from a Marianna Seidl corner to bag her first Ninja A-League goal.
Victory boss Jeff Hopkins went to his bench in a bid to change things up and the home side would have levelled things up late in the game were it not for an excellent save from Chloe Lincoln, who sprinted off her line to thwart Kennedy White from close range.
Victory threatened again but Rhianna Pollicina couldn’t latch on to a ball into the box whilst the Roar survived some late chaos from a set-piece delivery into the box to secure a vital win at the Home of the Matildas.
The win takes Brisbane Roar up into the top six as they defeat Melbourne Victory for the second time this season, while the home side remain fourth on the ladder and have now suffered back-to-back losses.
