The mother of a teenager stabbed outside his school has relived the moment she received the call every parent dreads, revealing she does not believe her son was the intended target.

The 15-year-old was allegedly set upon by knife-wielding teenagers at Ellenbrook Secondary College in Perth as he walked to the train station with a friend just after 3pm on Monday.

He suffered an injury to his bicep and a cut to his head, and is carrying mental scars, but has been discharged from hospital.

“He potentially couldn’t be here with me today so that’s really something that does play on my mind quite a lot,” the mother told 7NEWS.

She described the call informing her that her boy was off to hospital as “every parent’s nightmare”.

“I was at work at the time. I just left work. They were taking him to the hospital in the ambulance,” she said.

It is alleged a gang from Perth’s southern suburbs travelled north of the river for revenge over online abuse.

The victim’s mother said her boy’s friend told him “let’s go the other way because they’re coming for me”.

“My son wasn’t the target of this gang,” she said.

“I believe it was his friend.”

Four of the 10 teenagers allegedly involved have been granted bail, including the 14-year-old police claim slashed the boy with the knife.
