Pakistan’s javelin throw sensation and Olympic gold medalist, Arshad Nadeem will be in action at the 35th National Games in Karachi as Sindh hosts the multi-sport event after an 18-year gap.
Speaking at the event, Arshad Nadeem said he is excited to compete and is preparing for next year’s Diamond League and other major international events.
The National Games open today with a grand ceremony at the National Bank Stadium, where PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari served as the chief guest.
Earlier, Arshad Nadeem had lit the torch for the Games at the Punjab Stadium, marking the symbolic start of the event.
The star javelin thrower recently added another gold medal to his career at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
His winning moment came on November 19 at the Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium, where he secured the men’s javelin title with a best throw of 83.05 metres on his second attempt.
Arshad opened with a 74.00m throw before crossing the 80m mark and staying ahead of the field. His series also included 77.06m, a foul on his fifth attempt, and a final throw of 77.98m to close another strong performance.
