Powerful Media Leadership With Purpose

For Alaa Baqer, those moments came long after television programs had ended. While most viewers switched off their screens as the credits rolled, she remained captivated. She carefully read every name that appeared, wondering who the producers, writers, directors, presenters, and creators were. More importantly, she wondered how they transformed ordinary ideas into stories that touched millions of people.

That curiosity became the beginning of an extraordinary journey.

Growing up in Kuwait, a country long recognized as a pioneer in Arab television, cultural programming, and meaningful media, Alaa Baqer dreamed of one day seeing her own name appear among those closing credits. It was a simple dream for a young girl, yet powerful enough to shape a career dedicated to storytelling, national identity, and public service.

Today, as Senior Media Programs Preparation Specialist and Head of the Production Team behind one of Kuwait’s most iconic live television programs, Alaa Baqer has become one of the creative minds helping shape the country’s modern media landscape through journalism, television production, leadership, documentary filmmaking, content strategy, and public communication.

A Calling That Became a Life’s Mission

For Alaa Baqer, choosing media was never a career decision made by chance.

It was the natural continuation of a lifelong passion.

After graduating from the University of Kuwait with a degree in Media, she entered an industry she had admired since childhood. Very quickly, she realized television was far more than entertainment. It was a responsibility. Every story carried the power to educate, preserve history, celebrate achievement, and strengthen communities.

Working behind the scenes became exactly where she belonged.

As a program producer and content strategist, she discovered that the true influence of media lies not in appearing on camera but in creating the stories that audiences remember long after a broadcast ends.

Leading Under Pressure With Purpose

Producing live television demands extraordinary discipline.

As Head of the Production Team for “Masaa Al Khair Ya Kuwait”, one of Kuwait’s longest-running and most respected live television programs, Alaa Baqer leads an environment where every second matters.

Her role extends far beyond planning broadcasts.

She oversees editorial direction, selects guests, develops compelling story ideas, supervises production teams, and coordinates presenters, directors, correspondents, and technical crews. Decisions often need to be made within moments, requiring calm leadership under pressure and the ability to transform uncertainty into organized teamwork.

She believes effective leadership depends on clarity, communication, and trust.

Every successful live broadcast reflects the combined efforts of a unified team working toward a shared purpose.

The Story That Became Television History

Among dozens of productions and documentaries throughout her career, one story remains closest to Alaa Baqer’s heart.

While browsing social media, she unexpectedly came across an old photograph of Samira Al Ameri, Kuwait’s first kindergarten teacher, who had been living in Jordan for decades.

Something about the photograph refused to let go.

Driven by curiosity, Alaa spent nearly three months researching, contacting former students, colleagues, friends, and family members. She documented memories, collected stories, located former pupils, and carefully prepared one of the most emotionally powerful television reunions in Kuwait’s broadcasting history.

At the age of 85, Samira Al Ameri returned to Kuwait.

Live on national television, she reunited with her students after 65 years.

The program became an unforgettable emotional experience, blending tears, gratitude, childhood memories, and national history into one extraordinary broadcast. Alaa expanded the production with archival reports, telephone interviews involving the teacher’s husband, former school principal, students, and even welcomed young kindergarten children to greet the beloved educator.

The project demonstrated that journalism does more than report history.

Sometimes, it creates it.

Breaking New Ground for Gulf Women

Innovation has remained central to Alaa Baqer’s work.

One of her proudest achievements was introducing Dr. Noura Al Marzouqi as the first Emirati female sports analyst to appear regularly on a live Gulf Cup television program during Gulf Cup 26.

The decision represented far more than guest selection.

It opened new opportunities for women’s voices within sports broadcasting across the Gulf while reflecting Alaa’s commitment to diversity, innovation, and meaningful representation in Arab media.

The initiative received widespread recognition, with Dr. Noura Al Marzouqi later being honored by Kuwait’s political leadership for her contribution to the program.

A Legacy Written Behind the Camera

Throughout her career, Alaa Baqer has produced approximately 22 documentary films, led major national television productions, trained media students at the University of Kuwait, and conducted professional workshops for the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on content creation and storytelling.

Yet despite these achievements, her definition of success has changed.

Today, success is no longer measured by awards or titles.

It is measured by impact.

She hopes people remember her as someone who transformed meaningful ideas into stories that preserved Kuwait’s history, inspired audiences, and celebrated the people whose contributions deserved to be remembered.

Her advice to future media professionals reflects the journey she continues to live every day: trust your vision, remain patient, never allow doubt to silence your ambition, and remember that extraordinary stories belong to those willing to search for them.

From a little girl reading television credits to becoming one of Kuwait’s most respected media leaders behind the camera, Alaa Baqer’s story proves that passion, perseverance, and purpose can transform childhood dreams into a legacy that shapes a nation’s collective memory.
