The song brings a romantic dimension to the film, which is positioned as an action romance. It features Emraan and Genelia’s pairing, with Himesh and Akasa lending their voices to the composition.
Speaking about the track, Himesh Reshammiya said, “After the blockbuster success of ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’ and ‘Do Do Din Ki Zindagi’, which have collectively garnered over 300 million views across platforms, including more than 150 million views on my YouTube channel, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, I am extremely happy to bring you a song that is particularly close to my heart. Its vibrant composition and poetic lyrics, beautifully penned by my wife Sonia, make it very special. ‘Dard E Dil’ is a romantic song with a beautiful melody that stays with you long after you have heard it.”
Director Aditya Datt also shared the personal significance of the song, pointing to its connection with his grandfather, the late lyricist Anand Bakshi. He said, “This song is extra special to me because its mukhda and hook line have a very personal connection. They remind me of my grandfather, the legendary Anand Bakshi ji, and his iconic song ‘Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar’ from Karz. While this is an entirely different composition and song, that emotional connection with my grandfather makes it all the more special for me.”
Producer Deepak Mukut said the song was intended to bring a romantic element to the film. “A film like Gunmaaster G9 needs music that adds to its overall experience, and ‘Dard E Dil’ brings a beautiful romantic dimension to it. Himesh has created a melody that feels warm and heartfelt, and the song gives Emraan and Genelia’s pairing its own musical high,” he said.
Gunmaaster G9 also stars Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Singh. Produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir, the film is directed by Aditya Datt and presented by Soham Rockstar Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. It is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on November 27, 2026.
PEN Marudhar is handling the film’s all-India distribution, while Phar Films is its overseas distributor.
