Dubai is getting ready for a spectacular celebration of Diwali as Global Village prepares to bring hundreds of illuminated drones together for a special show next week. The display, featuring 600 drones, is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, at 8pm, promising a colourful tribute to the Festival of Lights.
The Global Village Drone Show will be part of five days of Diwali celebrations running from November 6 to 10. Alongside the sky show, visitors can look forward to a festive market, traditional South Asian music, children’s activities and a variety of Indian food experiences.
For residents and tourists looking for something special to do in Dubai during Diwali, the celebrations offer an opportunity to enjoy the festival with family and friends.
600 Drones to Illuminate the Dubai Sky on November 8
The main attraction will take place on Sunday, November 8, when 600 drones are expected to create Diwali-inspired formations above Global Village.
Scheduled for 8pm, the show will take place in the area above the Stunt Arena and Syria Pavilion. The illuminated formations will celebrate the spirit of Diwali, bringing the traditional symbolism of the Festival of Lights into a modern outdoor spectacle.
Drone shows have become a popular part of Dubai’s large-scale celebrations, combining technology, creativity and entertainment. This special display will add another highlight to Global Village’s Season 31 programme.
Visitors planning to watch the show should consider arriving early and finding a suitable viewing spot before the performance begins.
Five Days of Diwali Celebrations at Global Village
The drone display is only one part of the wider programme. Global Village will host five days of festivities from November 6 to 10, bringing together cultural activities, entertainment, shopping and food.
The celebrations are designed to offer something for different age groups, making the destination an appealing choice for families, groups of friends and visitors interested in experiencing Indian traditions.
A Diwali Mela, organised in collaboration with the India Pavilion, will bring festive decorations, gifts, traditional snacks and sweets to the Commercial Activation area.
World Avenue will also feature decorative lighting and Diwali-themed displays, creating colourful spaces for visitors to enjoy the festive atmosphere and take photographs.
Global Village to Host Its First-Ever Baithak
One of the interesting additions to this year’s celebrations is the first-ever Baithak at Global Village.
Scheduled for Friday, November 6, from 8pm to 9pm on the Main Stage, the traditional South Asian musical gathering will offer a more intimate entertainment experience.
A Baithak is traditionally a relaxed musical gathering where audiences sit close to performers and enjoy live music together. Visitors will also be encouraged to participate and sing along, creating a welcoming atmosphere built around music and shared cultural experiences.
The event will take place in collaboration with City FM and is expected to bring a distinctive South Asian cultural touch to the celebrations.
Diwali Activities for Children and Families
Families visiting Global Village will also find activities designed especially for younger guests.
The Kids Corner will feature face painting, diya colouring and rangoli-making activities. These traditional creative experiences will give children an opportunity to explore some of the customs associated with Diwali.
Visitors can also enjoy interactive games and prize-winning activities scheduled as part of the celebrations on November 7.
With festive decorations, cultural entertainment and family-friendly experiences, the programme aims to make the occasion enjoyable for visitors of different ages.
Indian Street Food and Festive Shopping
Food will be another major part of the Diwali experience. Visitors can explore Indian favourites at restaurants including Indian Chef and Grand Dhaba, while the Indian Chaat Bazaar will offer popular street-food options.
The menu includes pani puri, chaat, pav bhaji, chole bhature, desi noodles and traditional mithai. It provides visitors with an opportunity to enjoy familiar Indian flavours while exploring the wider destination.
The Diwali Mela will also feature festive gifts, decorations, snacks and sweets. Visitors looking for traditional items or small festive purchases can explore the market throughout the five-day celebration.
