A new beachside event is coming to Port Hughes for the first time this November, inviting families and friends to enjoy an afternoon of local food, live music and games beside the water.
Set against the backdrop of the Copper Coast’s coastline, the family-friendly event will offer a chance to slow down, soak up the views and spend time with loved ones before the Christmas rush.
Food lovers can look forward to a line-up of local favourites and popular food vans, including YP Donuts & More, Rock n Soft Serve, Moonta Scouts, Port Hughes Copperclub, Lost Tide, Olive Coffee Bar, Orexi Adelaide, The Pasta Guy and Asian Tucker.
From sweet treats and coffee to pasta and Asian-inspired eats, there will be plenty to keep visitors fuelled throughout the afternoon.
Families can also get involved in a range of activities, with competitive games including Giant Jenga, cornhole and Connect 4, alongside on-site face painting for younger visitors.
The event will take place near the Minnie Terrace playground, making it an easy outing for families looking to keep the kids entertained while enjoying the foreshore.
Local performer Caleb Raymond will provide live music, adding to the relaxed atmosphere as visitors settle in for an afternoon by the sea.
Copper Coast Council Tourism and Events Support Officer Chelsea Rose said the foreshore reserve was the perfect setting for the new event, bringing the community together in a much-loved coastal location.
“It’s the ultimate vantage point to kick back, catch up, and watch the sunset over the water,” she said.
Alongside the food vans and community stalls, visitors will also be just steps away from local favourites including the Port Hughes General Store and Port Hughes Tavern, offering even more options for food and drinks.
Rose said the event was designed to celebrate the region’s coastal lifestyle while giving the popular reserve a chance to shine.
“It highlights our iconic coastal lifestyle and gives a much-loved local reserve the spotlight it deserves,” she said.
As the event makes its debut, organisers are hopeful it could become a regular fixture on the Copper Coast calendar, bringing locals and visitors together for future afternoons by the water.
“If the community enjoys it, we would love to make this a recurring tradition every year!” Rose said.
Visitors are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and deck chairs so they can settle in, enjoy the entertainment and take in the coastal views as the afternoon rolls into sunset.
With local food, live music and plenty of family-friendly activities on offer, the new Port Hughes event is shaping up to be an easy-going way to enjoy the best of the Copper Coast this spring.
