FIRST LOOK: Blended bagel and matcha cafe is opening a bigger second location in North Adelaide

Adelaide’s bagel and matcha lovers have a new spot to add to their brunch rotation, with Blended opening a second location on O’Connell Street in North Adelaide.

The new cafe is offically open, bringing an expanded menu, a dedicated matcha bar and a larger dine-in space to the popular shopping and dining strip.

Since opening its first cafe on Grenfell Street in Adelaide’s CBD in 2024, Blended has built a following for its creative bagel combinations, specialty matcha drinks and playful approach to cafe favourites.

Founder Val said the decision to expand came as the business continued to receive support from its growing community.

“We’ve been incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received since opening our first Blended cafe in the CBD,” shared Vale. “As our community continued to grow, we wanted to create a bigger space where people could enjoy the full Blended experience.”

North Adelaide felt like the natural next step, with Val drawn to the neighbourhood’s established cafe culture and the opportunity to introduce something different to the area.

The new venue will offer a more relaxed dine-in experience, with additional room for the team to experiment with its menu and overall cafe concept.

“We want it to be somewhere people can slow down, catch up with friends, and enjoy great food and drinks.”

While the original CBD favourites will remain, customers can expect a range of new creations, including a Blueberry Cheesecake Bagel, French Toast Bagel, Smashed Avo Bagel and Bacon & Egg Bagel.

The sweet options put a playful spin on familiar favourites, while the savoury additions offer something for brunch lovers looking beyond the usual cafe menu.

Blended will also continue to experiment with Japanese-inspired flavours and creative matcha drinks, with a dedicated matcha bar forming part of the new space.

Among the existing favourites are the Truffle Forest Bagel, seasonal bagel specials and Earl Grey Matcha, while the Earl Grey Tiramisu has also recently proved popular with customers.

For Val, the larger venue means the team can finally bring more of its ideas to life.

“Our original cafe has a relatively small space, so we’ve always had lots of ideas we couldn’t quite fit in,” she said. “With North Adelaide, we have more room to be creative, not just with our menu but also with the atmosphere and overall customer experience.

“Seeing everything come together after months of planning has been incredibly rewarding, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”

The expansion marks the next chapter for the Adelaide business, which has built its identity around exploring unexpected flavour combinations while giving customers familiar favourites to return to.

Blended North Adelaide will open at 39 O’Connell Street on Sunday, October 25th, with opening-day hours from 8am to 3pm.
