Al Ain Amblers will welcome young rugby players from across the UAE this weekend as the first mini and youth community tournament of the 2026/27 season gets underway.
The annual event, taking place on October 24 and 25, will see rugby clubs from across the Emirates for a weekend of rugby and netball at the Al Ain Equestrian, Golf and Shooting Club.
For many of the young players, it will be their first opportunity this season to test themselves against teams from outside their own clubs.
The Al Ain tournament is the first of three scheduled community events over the coming weeks.
Abu Dhabi Harlequins will host the next tournament at Zayed Sports City on November 7, with the third event taking place in Dubai on November 28.
The Abu Dhabi Harlequins Junior Rugby Tournament is scheduled across November 7 and 8, with age groups ranging from Under-6 to Under-18.
Al Ain Amblers Rugby Club Facilities
Al Ain Amblers welcome visiting clubs
Founded in 1982, Al Ain Amblers has been involved in UAE community rugby for more than four decades.
The club moved to its current facilities in September 2007 and now has four rugby pitches, which have hosted domestic, regional and international competitions.
Club chairperson FC Holdt welcomed the visiting teams, coaches, parents and volunteers ahead of this weekend’s event.
“Our youth program is particularly important to the future of the club, helping to inspire the next generation of players and ensuring that the spirit of the Amblers continues for many years to come,” Holdt said.
He also thanked the volunteers and coaches responsible for organising the tournament and encouraged the young players to enjoy their rugby.
“Play hard, support your teammates, respect your opponents and, above all, enjoy the experience.”
With tournaments scheduled in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai over the next five weeks, young players will have several opportunities to compete against clubs from across the country before the end of November.
